🔬 Designed Around the Wearable Form Factor

A wearable LED work light has a very different battery problem from a conventional handheld lamp. The user moves constantly, the available space is narrow, and even a small increase in pack bulk can affect comfort. This design uses three AAA NiMH cells in a compact 2 plus 1 arrangement to create a 3.6V, 700mAh rechargeable battery pack with 2.52Wh nominal energy. The PVC heat-shrink structure avoids a rigid custom housing and allows the pack to follow the host product more naturally. An engineering target of about 46 x 22 x 19 mm is used for the initial mechanical layout, with final dimensions confirmed against the actual cell, insulation, weld structure and cable exit.

🛡️ Correct NiMH Charging and Finished-Pack Control

For this application, the battery is more than a small energy source. The charging method must also match the NiMH chemistry. The pack is intended for NiMH-specific charging using constant-current charging with negative delta-V, temperature and time monitoring rather than a lithium CC/CV profile. Finished packs can be checked for polarity, open-circuit voltage, resistance consistency, weld condition, PVC integrity, connector assembly and capacity. An optional 10k ohm NTC can provide temperature feedback when the host charging circuit supports it. The main product references are IEC 62133-1:2026 and IEC 61951-2:2017 plus AMD1:2022. RoHS, CE and UL requirements can be addressed according to the target market and host product.

Can a 3.6V NiMH pack power a wearable LED hand lamp?

Yes, provided that the host LED driver and charging circuit are designed for a 3.6V nominal rechargeable NiMH pack. The battery should always be selected together with the host electronics.

Why use a 2 plus 1 AAA layout?

It shortens the overall shape compared with a straight three-cell arrangement and provides more freedom for placement around the hand or wrist.

Can the NTC be added later?
