Slim Energy for Portable UV Curing

A protected 7.4V LiPo platform built for compact curing and inspection tools.

⚙️ Compact Energy for Short, Demanding UV Tasks

Portable UV curing tools have to place the battery beside the optics, LED electronics and thermal structure, often with very little spare depth. This design uses two flat LiPo pouch cells in a stacked 2S1P configuration, targeting 7.4V, 1800mAh and 13.32Wh nominal energy. The target pack dimension is about 55 x 35 x 20 mm. Internal cell separation, edge protection, terminal insulation and PCM protection are included in the engineering structure, while the external package uses PVC heat-shrink rather than a rigid custom housing.

🔬 Battery Energy Supports the Cure System

The battery provides the electrical energy required by the UV driver, but it does not by itself define curing performance. UV wavelength, irradiance, optical design, working distance, material sensitivity, exposure time and thermal behavior all influence the final curing result. On the battery side, we focus on stable discharge, protection behavior and thermal control. A 2S PCM/BMS can manage battery-level protection, while a 10k ohm NTC can provide thermal feedback when supported by the host electronics. Finished validation can include capacity, DC resistance, charge, discharge, high-load operation, abnormal charging, drop, vibration and temperature cycling. IEC 62133-2:2017 plus AMD1:2021 and applicable transport requirements provide the principal compliance framework.

Frequently Asked Questions

For portable UV curing tools, battery selection should be based on the real electrical and mechanical system rather than capacity alone. The following questions are particularly important during product development.
Does 1800mAh determine the curing time?
No. It provides 13.32Wh nominal energy. Actual curing time depends on lamp input power, driver efficiency and the curing process.
Can the pack use an 8.4V charger?
Yes, the 2S LiPo architecture is designed around an 8.4V full-charge voltage and the correct CC/CV charging profile.
Why use stacked pouch cells?
The stacked geometry is useful when the product has limited internal depth and cylindrical cells cannot use the available space efficiently.
Is NTC mandatory?
It is optional at battery level but useful when the host charging circuit supports thermistor feedback.
Can it be used for industrial UV curing?
It can be developed for portable industrial applications, but the finished system should be validated for its specific UV wavelength, power, temperature and curing material.
